Newish Kia Optima or worn Pontiac Bonneville SSEI?

Newish Optima can be had with a 6 speed.

Based on my experience with GM of that era, you’d have to pay me to drive that Pontiac.

Well shit.

Anyone who chooses the Bonneville is deranged and should probably be sent to an institution.

Optima would be nice.

If the car is free and insurance costs are equal I’d choose the Kia because newness and safety.

I’m one of the few people ho actually kinda likes those Bonnevilles, but I’d still take the Optima.

That was one of two Bonnevilles I have owned in my driving history. The first was my first car, a 1995 base model I drove until the shaft connecting the steering wheel to the steering box decided to remove itself while turning into my driveway, requiring repairs that were more than the value of the car. Before that it would bob and rock like a boat so much at highway speed it caused seasickness, even in the driver.
It was replaced by an SSEI like that one, only silver, that was incapable of containing any liquid other than gasoline and would violently vomit brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, occasionally oil and frequently power steering fluid. Something would just stop working properly and an investigation would lead to the discovery of a large chemical spill. I am 100% certain the car was either A: haunted, B: possessed by a malevolent entity or C: had a wish to become a real boy granted by a fairy who wanted to give the car the full experience of life and as such transformed it into a steel infant.
Three different mechanics were unable to explain why it kept breaking down like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. There was seriously no mechanical or structural fault in any of the systems that kept failing. It was like a really shitty segment of Fact or Fiction, only with less Jonathan Frakes.

Optima all day long.

I feel the exact same way, I like those Bonnies but the Optima looks good and would be so much less headache.

Yep.

Supercharged 3800 tho...

It’s a 2000's FWD four-door sedan with an automatic. I’ll pass.

The Bonneville, A: because there’s something wrong with me, and B: because I absolutely hate how Optimas drive

Bonnie please
Would only be better if it were a GXP
![]() 12/02/2016 at 15:27 |

The SSEi got the supercharged 3800, which is a barrel of fun.

Yes, but you could get that power plant in a much better car.

Oh I know. I sold Pontiacs 2001-2005.
An SSEi has been on my list for years but the GXP, man. It ticks all the right boxes. Still has that ostentatious, overwrought interior but the dialed-down exterior really does it for me. That and the Northstar :)

I love the Bonnie, but yes the GS is awesome too.

Mmm... Northstar. I love the Northstar especially in LC3 form, but man do people hate on them.

Considering it’s probably the best looking Kia I’d have that
